Case Study 2: Printer Retrofit
 The world’s largest computer company ordered the manufacture of 3,500 branded, 8-color industrial printers from a leading Japanese printer manufacturer. A unique function allowed the machines to print a full color document in four seconds. There was only one small glitch. When the printer wasn’t in use, it went into sleep mode, and would take five full minutes to come out of it. The company, frantic in reaction to this engineering dilemma, called in TTI for help.
The challenges we faced began with the size of the printer, each taking up a full skid for shipment. All packaging and documentation had serial numbers that needed to be matched, and all components and packaging had to be staged and maintained in pristine condition for repackaging.
Our client’s expectation was that it would take 60 days to rework the printers. We were able to accomplish the task in 28 days.
